Cameron Moll a author, presenter and web designer, will be releasing a new book about building mobile websites. The book Mobile Web Design per Cameron Moll
The premise of this book is threefold: Analyze current and future technologies relevant to mobile web content, confront the limitations of existing mobile devices, and discover methods for exploiting the unique opportunities afforded by mobility and its devices, both current and future.
I especially like his analysis and sources about the size of the cellphone world. And more importantly the number of people accessing the Web from their mobile device. He makes a good case for why companies, organizations and people should rethink or get into the mobile web.
Another item he discusses is that the mobile web is not about having a paired down web because of the device or technology. Rather it is about give the mobile user access to the web based on the context of that usage. For example, getting directions while holding the handrail on a bus. Or looking for a limited amount of data e.g. area restaurants with limited user interactions.
It looks to be a good book and I look forward to ordering it when it is released on the 28th of August.
