Thanks to the French the nda was broken Windows Mobile 6 formerly codename Crossbow. So the NDA was lifted in advance of the official announcement at GSM this Monday.
The new version contains three flavors of the OS - Windows Mobile 6 Standard, Windows Mobile 6 Professional and Windows Mobile 6 Classic. The reviews have been pretty positive including
- Geeks.com - Having been a BlackBerry user for years I got addicted to push e-mail, and this latest version of Windows Mobile finally lets me leave the BlackBerry behind.
- PC Magazine - Windows Mobile 6 is the best mobile operating system out there, but I say that guardedly. It's still clunky, with some memory leaks and seriously unintuitive parts. But the other mobile options fall short in major ways.
- InfoWorld - Embargoed or not, Windows Mobile 6 looks like it has enough sweets going for it to make Windows Mobile 5 users want to upgrade.
For developers take a look at a what's new paper on MSDN. I will be talking more about Windows Mobile 6 Development in the coming weeks.
