It has been a while since I wrote something. I have been getting ready for MEDC and I am finishing up a fairly long posting that has required fact checking and research. So in the mean time here is some interesting tidbits.
The first is Rob Tiffany has been busy finalizing what could be a record breaking demo booth for MEDC 2007. Essentially he will have over 1000 simulated clients doing concurrent synchronizations from SQL Server Compact Edition to MS SQL using merge replication. To find out more check out his blog at http://blogs.msdn.com/robtiffany/.
Another non-MEDC item is check out what I am calling SilverStream 2.0. In the mid 90s as the Internet and Java began to take off, some of the staff at PowerBuilder left to start a new company. This new company, SilverStream, built a server based product that could deliever web pages with DHTML content or Java Applets. The development platform was web based and the applications and resources were stored in a database. Bungee Lab is developing a similar product, a web based development environment. The difference is the platform is now a service both for development and production. A beta is coming out soon.
