BlogMS was started by Daniel Goodman (a Sr. Technical Account Manager) in his words he started BlogMS in May 2008 in response to customers who wanted to feel closer to Microsoft in order to keep up-to-date with what's going on across Microsoft including the products groups. My wife saw the other day a very cool gadget, Pulse smart pen, made by LiveScribe. The pen uses special paper (although they are trying to give users the ability to print the paper) to capture what is written. In addition the pen has a mic to capture the audio associated with the notes being written.

Today the Server and Tools division at Microsoft where I work now released Visual Studio 2008 SP1 and the .NET Framework 3.5 SP1. This is actually a big release and contains a lot of bug fixes and goodies for developers.

Tech Ed 2008 North America is coming up next week. The show has now been split into two weeks. One for Software Developers and the other for IT Professionals. In addition, this year MEDC has been folded into Tech Ed. This is a great idea as now your training time and dollars do not need to be split between two shows. In the future Mobile developments will participate in the mainstream conferences like Tech Ed and PDC.

A CTP for Microsoft Synchronization Services for ADO.NET aka Sync Services for Devices has been released to the Download Center on MSDN. This allows Sql CE 3.5 to sync to other databases than Sql Server like Oracle.

Today at MIX Microsoft announced not only I.E. 8 but showed off a new Mobile version of Silverlight. The big shell was the announcement by Nokia to support Silverlight on Symbian platform. Silverlight now works on several desktop browsers and mobile devices. So it is time to start looking at Silverlight for mobile.
