My blog is read around the world but I do not localize my blog. Well until now. At the bottom of the page I have put the Microsoft Translation widget. This will do machine translation at a minimum. You can also enable collaborative translation as well. Enjoy!
One of the most asked features of .NET 4 is the ability to install on Server Core OSs. I am pleased to let you know that you can now do this with a caveat. You must be running Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1. So you must upgrade your server to SP1 before installing .NET Framework 4 Server Core Profile.
One other thing to note you must also turn on .NET 2.0 support as well as WOW support. While we are installing the Full Framework be aware that not everything will function on Server Core for example WPF and ClickOnce do not work on Server Core.
In 1994 I started a web service. The web server was running Windows NT and IIS was custom built. I still remeber getting calls from people asking us how come our stuff was so fast. But never in my wildest dreams would I ever think the Internet would be nominated for The Nobel Peace Prize.
If you wish to support the effort to get the Internet the award join Internet for Peace. Good luck to the Internet. I think it deserves to win. Of course that leaves an open question what or who gets the prize?
Have you ever wonder how to keep up with the flood of information coming from Microsoft? It turns out that there are lots of resources provided by Microsoft. And a good place to look turns out to be a blog, specifically BlogMS! BlogMS was started by Daniel Goodman (a Sr. Technical Account Manager) in his words he started BlogMS in May 2008 in response to customers who wanted to feel closer to Microsoft in order to keep up-to-date with what's going on across Microsoft including the products groups. Think of this website as connecting the dots!
My wife saw the other day a very cool gadget, Pulse smart pen, made by LiveScribe. The pen uses special paper (although they are trying to give users the ability to print the paper) to capture what is written. In addition the pen has a mic to capture the audio associated with the notes being written.
Are you tired of using Google and having to add additional keywords to find stuff that is actually relevant to development. Well now someone has the solution called - C# Search .NET.
The site is quick and Google like. Very cool - try it out now.
Tech Ed 2008 North America is coming up next week. The show has now been split into two weeks. One for Software Developers and the other for IT Professionals. In addition, this year MEDC has been folded into Tech Ed. This is a great idea as now your training time and dollars do not need to be split between two shows. In the future Mobile developments will participate in the mainstream conferences like Tech Ed and PDC.
