VS2008 RTMs

Title says it all. Today the Visual Studio team released VS2008 to manufacturing! Official launch is slated for February next year. If you have MSDN subscription you can download the official version starting today. Its as great product for both device, desktop and server development.

VM Demo Environment

I am currently working on a project base on the Mobile Line of Business Accelerator. Essentially you can take the LOB Accelerator and modify it for your own needs. One thing I don't have while I am on the road is Rob Tiffany's mobile data center. However that is not a problem as long as I don't want to handle 7 million rows an hour.

7 Million Rows an Hour

My friend Rob has hit a new record with his portable data center. His new test works on show how many rows SQL Server and Merge Replication can handle. Turns out to be quite a lot 7 million hours per hour. You can read more at his site.

OHA and Fake Steve

So unless you have been programming without Internet access you have heard that there is no gPhone. Instead it is an alliance, Open Handheld Alliance. I think Fake Steve says it best but I can't resist putting in my own 2 cents.

Cisco I-Prize

Cisco is looking for the next billion dollar idea. Cisco has taken an interesting approach to finding this idea. They are offering the I-Prize. This is not a one shot deal but an opportunity to start a company backed by up to US$10m over three years by Cisco in addition to sharing a US$250,000 signing bonus.
