Device Manager Automation

Have you ever wish you could automatically cradle an emulator, run a test for example and then close down the emulator? With the current emulators v1.0 and 2.0 it was possible but not practical since no API existed for the device manager and emulators. The next version of Visual Studio, Orcas, includes the new Device Emulator v3.0 which has a COM interface to control the manager.

Queensland Univeristy of Technology in Brisbane has released a version of Ruby that works with Visual Studio.  You can download a binary or source code!

Mobility Mainstream?

The CIO Form in conjunction with Nokia and Economist Intelligence Unit have done a survey of 500 CIOs on mobility. It has some very interesting information and statistics in it. E-Commerce News has a good summary of the findings.

Sandcastle and Compact Framework Tutorial

You have just finished a project to build a mobile framework. You now need to produce documentation so you get out NDoc and oops NDoc does not support the 2.0 framework. What to do? How about use Sandcastle, a document compiler from Microsoft.

Blackberry on Windows Mobile

The last couple of days have seen a couple of interesting announcements from Blackberry. The first was a port of thier software to Windows Mobile. Now they have a Visual Studio plugin for building applications for Blackberry.

Mobility In Action

The Mobility in Action was a great success. With it, Microsoft was able to demonstrate 720 concurrent connections using real world data and hardware setup.
