MEDC Precon Day

So today we started setting up for MEDC 2007 booth. It is pretty amazing to see a huge empty room on Saturday turned into a beautiful exhibit hall.

It has been a while since I wrote something. I have been getting ready for MEDC and I am finishing up a fairly long posting that has required fact checking and research. So in the mean time here is some interesting tidbits.

Kiosk and Shells for Windows Mobile

With all the interest in this topic, I have added it as a category. I have put all the blog entries about this topic in this category. In addition, I have added some that are related to kiosk or shell development and/or provisioning.

Scheduling Processes

My friend Ryan has written a great article on how to use CeRunAppAtTime to schedule a task to run. You can use this function to launch a program in the future. He then discusses the affects of changing the clock. Very cool.

Mobility IO

My friend Rob Tiffany has created a maturity model for mobility. He calls it mobility infrastructure optimization or Mobility IO. You can use this model in a variety of ways.

Death of Axim

CNet is reporting that Dell will stop selling the Axim. Many questions come to mind immediately.

Kiosk Pattern

So the Today screen is just not what you want to use for a kiosk or custom shell. What is a developer to do?

MEDC 2007 & Enterprise Mobility

One of the things I have been working on this week is getting ready for MEDC 2007. I have a couple of presentations including

• deep dives into SQL Server Compact Edition (SSCE) performance
• how to create better integrated applications using the shell or totally bypass it and create your own kiosk or shell facade.
• Instructor led lab on deploying line of business (LOB) applications for mobile workers using SMS

In addition I have been working on building a rack of servers for a booth.
